Uber Experience

INTRODUCTION

Can you make a living doing Uber? (Uber Passenger, Black, Comfort, Delivery, Eats, etc) Yes and No!! The answer can be complicated because there are sooooo many factors involved.

Let’s start with my personal process and experience.

WHAT SERVICE SHOULD I FOCUS ON?

I wanted to choose a vehicle that I could maximize the fares while being efficient in operations. There are so many services that you can do in Uber. In my area, Atlanta, Georgia, I noticed the following:

  • Uber X and Shared
  • Uber XL
  • Uber Black
  • Uber Comfort
  • Delivery
  • Eats

I have a Black Yukon Denali SUV that qualifies for Black XL, Black, and Comfort but you need to have been Ubering for a year, get your vehicle inspected, and in my case, create a new account for Black. The fares are greater BUT the operation is greater as well. I didn’t want to take a chance so I decided to purchase a car specifically for Uber X and Shared. (I could have done Black and Comfort but that would increase the price of the car.

2017 Kia Optima Hybrid

I decided to stick with basic UberX classification and knew I had to choose a comfortable and economical vehicle. I couldn’t go with a full electric car because that would make the purchase price car payment too steep even though the national cost per gallon equivalent is $1.10.

After much research I chose the Kia Optima Hybrid from Carvana

I financed the vehicle through Carvana for 72 Months and included the extended warranty for $389 for 72 months. I chose the Kia Optima for its European style and comfort. The engine is a hybrid which gives me about 39mpg real world. See chart below.

ADD ON’S AND ACCESSORIES

First thing I did was tint the windows

Then I added the following Accesories

  • Uber Led Light Signs for Car with USB Plug
  • Kingslim D6 4K Dual Dash Cam – WiFi & GPS Front and Inside Uber Car Camera
  • Multi Car Retractable Backseat 3 in 1 Car Charging Station
  • Car Diffuser Humidifier Aromatherapy Essential Oil Diffuser
  • Hand Sanitizer Holder for Car – Accessory
  • Large Car Tissue Holder
  • Play Octopus Entertainment and Advertisement Affiliation
  • Fire Tablet for Personal Signs and news
  • Motor Trend DeepDish Floor Mats

THE TABLETS

When I went to Philadelphia there were a number of Tesla Ubers with Uber Tablets. Uber Tablets because they were connected to the driver and rider which gave them live information of their drive along with driver information and most important, the ability to rate and tip the driver. Unfortunately, the Uber Tablet is not available in my area.

So I created my own by using an Amazon 10” Fire Tablet and an online Menu Sign program called OptiSign. They give you free to try for 14 days then if you choose you may subscribe to them. It cost me $108 for 1 Screen

I created slides with Canva that I uploaded to OptiSign and sprinkled in Weather, News, Entertainment, and Sports. The back seat does look a bit excessive but I wanted to provide everything a passenger would need to be comfortable.
